On 21 May, as Cyprus held the rotating Presidency of the Council of the EU, Nicosia hosted the high-level conference « No Child Left Behind, » bringing together policymakers, researchers and practitioners to put children’s health at the centre of European policy. Prof. Konstantinos Makris, a member of the Exposome Alliance at the Cyprus University of Technology, presented Children First, a school-based observatory that tracks the health, nutrition, social needs and environmental exposures of every child aged six to eleven, each year. Paired with the French Filomène birth cohort, the model offers continuous monitoring from birth to age 18, generating the evidence Member States need to deliver on the European Child Guarantee, the EU Anti-Poverty Strategy and related initiatives.
