European lawmakers, leading scientists and civil society organisations launch the Exposome Alliance to put prevention at the heart of EU policy Brussels, 24 February 2026 — Members of the European Parliament, leading researchers and major European health organisations today launched the Exposome Alliance at the European Parliament, marking a coordinated effort to tackle the environmental and social drivers of Europe’s growing chronic disease burden and shift EU policy decisively towards prevention.

Convinced that protecting human health requires action on the quality of our environment, seven Members of the European Parliament are inviting policymakers, researchers and stakeholders to a press conference at the European Parliament to present the European Exposome Alliance – an initiative aimed at strengthening the European Union’s action on prevention through the scientific concept of the exposome.

The Alliance brings together political leaders, scientists and partners committed to placing prevention at the heart of Europe’s health and research agenda. By focusing on the combined impact of environmental, social and lifestyle factors on health across the lifespan, the initiative seeks to advance a stronger, evidence-based approach to disease prevention in the European Union.
