Science for Prevention- Policy for Health

The Exposome Alliance connects policymakers, researchers and civil society to promote prevention‑focused EU policies through an exposome‑based approach, addressing the combined environmental, social and lifestyle determinants of health.

Where you live, how you live, where and how you work, the pollutions and dangerous products you are exposed all have an impact on your health.

The exposome is everything in our environment and daily lives that affects our health – apart from our genes. It includes the air we breathe, the food we eat, the chemicals we are exposed to, our housing and working conditions, noise, stress, and social factors like income or education. These exposures, including their combined «cocktail effects», contribute to the rise of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs).

The Manifesto calls for a shift from treating disease to preventing it by addressing the environmental, social, and lifestyle factors that shape our health. It outlines how Europe can lead the way in reducing chronic diseases through better data, research, and coordinated policies based on exposome science.
